engineering update

* jason/bill wondering about moving default arm build from bboard->bbone
bruce maintains linux-yocto - encourage dialogue
bboard less useful currently - no binary blobs
possibly next cycle get a useful system from building just upstream
well supported by meta-ti? pick different arm reference board?
bm: if moving to a different one, should be a different member org eg
not broadcom
with bb black, price dif between is less interesting
is intel going to move ref platform to minnow?
  rp no decision made
minnow - binary drivers, not ideal showcase platform
planned target 1.5 generic bsp for intel platforms, may replace atom-pc
even with a work-anywhere platform
to put bound on bug reports
take discussion to list?
often go through to milestone 4 or 5, then talk about changing ref platforms
do by milestone 2, in the next few weeks

* also rumors of a new mips platform
bruce is person to ask, proposing ubiquiti edge router lite, no issues ubnt.com
various qa teams need access to it
bm: decent router

QA

current problems/frustrations time to roll releases & point releases
through manual qa process
takes a week
running qa team maxed out weekly builds
hard to get time to run point releases
respin is very intensive
should automate as much as can, have long since said
early part of 1.5, relax qa so they can look at automation
also pulling in other resources
writing core architecture
once architecture in place then can parallelize more to get test cases written
open to help and assistance
just a heads up, let RP know if want to get involved
primarily focused on QEMU, no shoeleather yet
should be applicable to real hardware quickly

bm:
knowing what is currently going on, documented test plan people can see?
rp: yes, testopia extension to bugzilla
for 1.4 had all tests documented in testopia
any documentation on ideas of how base architecture is going to work?
rp: waiting for feedback from team
currently, no, still in progress
want to port existing shell interface
qemuimagetest
testing powwow at new orleans?
bm: ltpddt candidate for ptest target
one case where TI's open test developed, linaro using
  way for TI to contribute
let's cooperate where easy to do so, compare notes
jenkins, very little tied into buildbot
trying to create test reuse in ptest

=> plan a test meeting at LCNA
  mentor, enea, wr, ti, linaro

trying to get core infrastructure in place, oe specific now
going into q4 can be more hardware oriented
also scotland? harder to get to

compliance program

giltlayers
This organization mistakenly added copious information on their site
claiming to be YP Participants when they were not yet. They are new LF
members and are evidently unsure of the rules. Jefro is working with
them and will bring their application to the next AB meeting.

minnowboard bsp - VOTE for YP Compatible
  unanimous yes

community

girl scouts
Beth Flanagan is working with the local Girl Scouts in Portland, OR to
create an open source badge. This is wonderful coverage for the
project and a great way to get girls involved with STEM education. Any
organizations wishing to donate money or time should contact Beth
directly.

opw
Beth is also a mentor for the GNOME Foundation's Outreach Program for
Women on behalf of the Yocto Project. We have an intern this summer
thanks to Beth's persistence and a cash donation from Intel.

infrastructure

The OpenEmbedded mailing lists have been transferred over to YP
servers from linuxtogo.com. This is a small effort by the Yocto
Project (and Michael Halstead in particular) to help increase OE's
usefulness, as the prior server was overwhelmed.

_______________________________________________________________________
advocacy
eetimes/rtc group publication update - last month has been way too
busy, we'll vote next time

  upcoming events
LC Japan
OSCON
LC North America
ELC-E in November (Scotland)
