[meta-freescale] which branch use 3.10.53 as default?

We don't upgrade the previous releases as it would impose a disruptive
change for existing users, and this is not possible. The 1.8 release
uses the 3.14 kernel but the GPU drivers are compatible with the
3.10.53 one so you can add your fork and it should work.
