I have lost the "state" tinkering around, but before I did that
checked the sysroot and it was:

    build/tmp/work/cortexa17hf-neon-vfpv4-esp5-linux-gnueabi/brcm-patchram-plus/0.1-r0/recipe-sysroot-native/usr/bin$
ls
    guards quilt

So pretty empty and a lot more is expected to be in there

I do have some global class but nothing that stands out to me. I do
change the TARGET_VENDOR to a custom name.

My build configuration (masked a bit since this is customer data):

Build Configuration:
BB_VERSION        = "1.36.0"
BUILD_SYS         = "x86_64-linux"
NATIVELSBSTRING   = "universal"
TARGET_SYS        = "arm-custom-linux-gnueabi"
MACHINE           = "custom-d1"
DISTRO            = "custom-fb"
DISTRO_VERSION    = "2.4"
TUNE_FEATURES     = "arm armv7ve vfp neon vfpv4 callconvention-hard cortexa17"
TARGET_FPU        = "hard"
