[yocto] Ownership issues in rootfs but not in rpms

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to set up my Jethro based Distro in such way that a daemon gets its own user and group to run as.

The user and group are both created properly.
I also have the files and directories chowned in the same manner useradd-example does in do_install.
The rootfs however always contains root:root owned files/dirs. Looking into the RPM packages however, ownership is well as expected.

Note that I manually added useradd-example to my image with the same results.

Is there a reason you can think of that causes this? A known bug?
I would like to know how the ownership and permissions are considered when the image is created (are they virtual at build time due to peudo and do they become actual when the image is created?)
If this is documented somewhere I'd really appreciate a link.

Thank you!

Regards

Felix
