I don't know but in the interests of long-term maintainability I would 
advise against it. If a recipe inherits a class that is in oe-core, it 
would be reasonable to expect that there would not be any additional 
hidden behaviour.

You have two choices:
1) copy the class into a new class and modify it as you please;
2) submit your modifications to the original class upstream in a timely 
manner
