[yocto] first in probably a number of questions about yocto and qemu

i'm writing up a tutorial on using qemu with yocto, so i'll start
with what is undoubtedly a simple question.

i notice in local.conf the line:

#IMAGETEST = "qemu"

which would appear to be available no matter what machine you select.
i thought i'd read that yocto had limited support for qemu images in
the sense of supporting only a small set of machines. so under what
circumstances is one allowed to use that feature?

also, i just started a beagleboard build of core-image-minimal for
some experimentation, and i didn't select that feature. once the
build is done, can i tweak local.conf to activate that feature, then
redo the build to have the qemu test session start? or is there a
better way to do that? thanks.
