[yocto] Hob question: meta-yocto layer and 'defaultsetup' distro option

Hi all,

In the Hob settings, there is a drop down menu that allows you to select
the distro. The menu includes an option called 'defaultsetup'. This option
is selected when you delete the meta-yocto layer. I am sure it does
something very important, but unfortunately the name is not very
descriptive. Does anybody know what this option really mean?

If I delete the meta-yocto layer, am I supposed to provide the distro to
be used via a layer or some other means?
