I got solved this error.

Apparently, I needed to ensure that the eglibc-2.13 libc/Makeconfig file had a definition for auditdir . Since that was missing, the expression ${auditor}/libsotruss.so ended up evaluating to /libsotruss.so, which cause the build error, with bitbake trying to install it to the host root directory.
