Full meeting transcript:

The meeting began with introductions from each person.

Welcome Huawei

Sanil introduced himself and Huawei, all welcome their participation

Introducing Michael Halstead

Michael has been the Yocto Project sysadmin through Intel for many
months, but in January was hired as the first Yocto Project employee

(though the Linux Foundation). Michael has done an outstanding job so
far and we welcome his work. He sends regular updates to the AB

mailing list and is available by email or IRC.

Finance Overview

Lieu:
on track, but deficit in the year
finance was predicated on more Gold members

4k allocated for new machine, now spending on disks

money for ongoing allocated hardware?

Dave:
request: budget outline on paper for each meeting

==AR: Lieu will take action

infrastructure line item, you guys figure out (saul & michael)
Saul: Here to ask for money

Lieu to send out reports

Bill concerned about tracking which companies are weeks behind in paying
Lieu: ok to just list line items, not call anyone out

____________________________________________
Yocto Project DevDay report

Tracey:
AV stuff didn't owrk out well - logistics & equipment
very little attrition through the day
classwork done well
fabulous first attempt
will do a retrospective within group

Philip:
also some interest from Android Summit people
[Android Builders Summit was co-located]

Tracey: sending out survey in a week
next up: elce
want to mix up content for the fall
want to have a better idea about how to alter training
please consider from companies who should be there
please participate, set budget aside
panel discussion was very positive

apologize not much information went out, so little time
shout out to Michael Halstead & team putting systems together until 230

Sean:
too thin on topics needed more coverage
labs were too compressed, machines not set up properly
expanding timeframe helps, but now more content
think through what to do- suggest expand, more useful lab
- focus on who the audience is make clear to people coming in, set expectations
- have enough time for what to do

Bill: pre-send slides for labs

Richard: training & presentations impacting m3 milestone
possibly use professional training in future

Bill: helpful for yocto devs to create presentations

Jason: collect lessons learned

Tracey: send specific questions, etc

Philip: also talk to devs

Sean: beagleboard presentations smooth, contrasted with ours

Jason: we do it repeatedly (6 times so far)
people coming dont change you have to change

Dave: we can be willing to do things differently

Bill: have date for barcelona, set date 2 weeks before for beta day
solicit volunteers within AB to go through it

Sean:
koen suggested self hosting
instead of sep desktop, image on target itself

Bill get rid of cross compiling

Sean: uniformity in images - just floating idea

Jefro: video in 2-3 weeks

Tracey:
less than 3 weeks preparation for presentations
1 weekend to put together labs

Bill: very good feedback although difficulties

Dave: comment from someone at first linux conf:
this is a lot better organized than thought
let's put DevDay on AB schedule

____________________________________________
BSP Summit & Collaboration Summit

Sean: confirm date: april 2

Dave: what help do you need?

Sean:
will confirm date with internal facilities
need to put together agenda, presentations
much less formal

Jason: 10 boards?

Sean: another agenda, tech some confusion about what goes into bsp

Bill:
my goal get together user group targeting for bsps
see if agreement on current definition

Sean: coalesce agreement from group
go in with strawman

Jason: first foster understanding
some people who have made bsps before

Richard:
On John Cherry's proposed list of invitees:
- do all people know about yocto yet? e.g. broadcom
suggest presentation on current bsp def, 2 hrs

Dave: afternoon before for introductory session
add matt porter, tom rini

Bill:
any names to put forward?
also hack summit at collab?
be careful of elitism
at least 2 tracks - informational, hackerfest

point of day is to get consensus on bsp layer defintion
at collab, look for a room for a hackerfest for a day
==> general yocto/oe dev day to work on arch issues - workgroup meeting
==> Jefro & Sean to send out invitations over next week

bm bsp misnomer, actually chipset/soc support
=> agenda item for next time
jk not everyone convinced little work to port

==> sh start thread on bsp list

make sure bsp list is open

Bill: one week delay on archive?

____________________________________________
Website Overhaul

Jefro:
4 goals
speak to new people
ecosystem, suporting orgs

Sean: wants to see

Steve: available to review

Sean: summary of personas

Tracey: on wiki

____________________________________________
Contributions in Kind

Bill:
next meeting, official mechanism for recognizing contributions in kind
no current process
AB dues don't go below a floor
floor is silver, contrib in kind to get up to gold
min base level is silver
if want, can earn up to gold
agreed
contrib in kind outside of AB
if particpating org wants to 'upgrade' silver->gold, propose to ab
