You are right, '-machine pc' is aliased to the default machine type and
the processor type field gets populated with whatever pc's alias is. The
best solution will be to pick a minimum supported machine type and use
that for all versions of QEMU. Otherwise you'll end up with separate
rmc.db entries for each QEMU build.

Starting QEMU as in the example below will result in identical rmc
fingerprints on QEMU 2.1 or later(QEMU 2.1 was released around August
2014).

runqemu ovmf qemuparams="-machine pc-i440fx-2.1" refkit-image-common wic
intel-corei7-64 slirp serial nographic
