The crownbay, fri2 and emenlow BSPs are planned for retirement from the
master branch of the meta-intel layer and these BSPs will not be
available in the 2.0 release of the meta-intel layer. The main reason
for retiring the three BSPs is that the support for the EMGD driver used
by these BSPs has been stopped.
The 2.0 meta-intel layer BSPs release is synchronized with the Yocto
Project 1.7 release, and will happen around November of 2014.
The older versions of these BSPs will continue be available on the
yoctoproject.org website, and will be supported in the usual manner. Any
newer dot releases made for any of the previous release of the
meta-intel layer, which had included these BSPs, will continue to
include these BSPs.
Also note that the crownbay-noemgd, fri2-noemgd and emenlow-noemgd BSPs
are not retiring at this point. These *-noemgd BSPs do not use the EMGD
for graphics driver stack, and they will be supported with the open
source graphics stack as usual and will be available in the 2.0 release
of the meta-intel layer.
If you have any input or concerns about the retirements of these BSPs
then voice them now by replying to this email. You have 2 weeks from now
to report any concerns about this decision.
Thanks,
meta-intel layer maintenance team
