Hi Nilesh,
Here are some instructions from our internal Wiki about static IP addresses:
Introduction
Three pieces of information are needed to set a static IP address:
* A unique IP address
* The netmask for the attached subnet
* The gateway address (for access outside the attached subnet)
Temporary settings
The following instructions will set a static IP address, but this is not persistent and will last until Linux is restarted.
To set the IP address and netmask, use the command:
> ifconfig <interface name> <required ip address> netmask <required
> netmask>
For example, with the following information
* interface name is "eth0"
* Required IP address is "10.0.0.240"
* Required net mask is "255.255.255.0"
> ifconfig eth0 10.0.0.240 netmask 255.255.255.0
Then, the gateway needs to be set. Use the command:
> route add default gw 10.0.0.4
