but I had no idea it was related to swap ;-) I'll disable locally and see if that makes a difference. I can't see why swap should be getting used as the app never uses anywhere near the 2GB the board has, but I've see linux hit swap when there still seems to be plenty of physical memory about, so this may be expected.

It is just possible that this may be related to the other issue, as I can imagine a gstreamer-heavy app does a lot of memory allocation/deallocation...
