[linux-yocto] (Query) How to build for qemu?

Hi,

     I am relatively new to Yocto. I am trying to include my C code files
(user space + kernel module) such that it can be part of the resulting qemu
image. Where should I look for information relevant to
-- adding new C files to existing Yocto source,
-- build changes required so that my code gets built along,
-- and if any packaging changes required?
