There are two related questions here. Can the automated testing install
packages using opkg to test them (bug 6335 was about rpm) and secondly,
if there a way to generate images which don't install all ptest
packages?

I'm not sure what the progress is on opkg however for the second
question, rather than use the ptest image feature (which installs *all*
ptest packages), why not only install a specific list of ptest packages
you're particularly interested in testing? You can do that using the
normal methods of selecting packages for images.
