As Gold Members of the Yocto Project Advisory Board, Mentor Embedded is committed to enabling our customers to take advantage of the latest Linux development technologies. Using technology from the Yocto Project allows Mentor to offer our customers the most flexibility in a commercially supported embedded Linux product.
Our customers can leverage the power of open source while reaping the benefits of a commercially supported, extensible, and customizable platform that scales across projects to enable project teams to quickly and efficiently scale productivity. The Yocto Project provides a valuable baseline enabling a wide range of software solutions and hardware platforms.
Mentor Embedded’s solutions integrate a commercial quality toolchain and development environment that enhances ease of use and a rapid, straightforward out-of-the-box experience from software download to first prototype.
Mentor Embedded has been developing and shipping embedded Linux products based on Yocto Project technology since the inception of the project. The core of the Yocto Project began with a subset of the OpenEmbedded (OE) project, which has been around for more than a decade. Mentor Embedded Linux was originally based on OpenEmbedded. We were early members of the Yocto Project and we continue to contribute on a daily basis. Mentor Embedded employs numerous open source maintainers and contributors as well as one of the founding members of OE. Our contributions are obvious to anyone who works with the various git repositories related to the Yocto Project.
The Yocto Project provides a broad foundation upon which to build world-class embedded platforms. Mentor Embedded Linux builds upon this baseline by integrating best-in-class toolchain and development tools providing a commercially supported platform that helps you get to market faster while reducing cost and risk.
